A differenza della genomica, che si concentra sulla sequenza del DNA stessa, l&#8217;epigenomica indaga i cambiamenti chimici e strutturali che influenzano il modo in cui i geni vengono espressi, senza alterare il codice genetico sottostante. <br><br>Il campo dell&#8217;epigenomica \u00e8 stato trasformato dalle tecnologie di sequenziamento di nuova generazione e dalla bioinformatica avanzata. Questi approcci consentono ai ricercatori di mappare le modifiche chimiche e strutturali che regolano l&#8217;attivit\u00e0 genica nell&#8217;intero genoma, senza alterare la sequenza del DNA stessa. Integrando i dati sulla metilazione del DNA, l&#8217;accessibilit\u00e0 della cromatina, le modifiche istoniche e l&#8217;organizzazione 3D del genoma, l&#8217;epigenomica ricostruisce il complesso
