Sequentia Biotech and Biotech Tricopharming Research Awarded European Funding for ANTIOXESSENCE Project

[Barcelona, Spain] – Sequentia Biotech is pleased to announce that its collaborative proposal, “ANTIOXESSENCE,” has been selected for funding under the I3-4-BIOFERTILIZERS Financial Support to Third Parties (FSTP) initiative.

Competing within Strand 2: Open Innovation, our joint project was recognized for its potential to scale up innovative bio-stimulant solutions and enhance the interregional value chain of the European circular bioeconomy. This subproject has received funding from the I3-4-BIOFERTILIZERS project (Agreement No. 101161143) through its Open Call, funded by the European Union under the Interregional Innovation Investments (I3).

Decoding Plant Potential via Multi-Omics

The ANTIOXESSENCE project focuses on the development and characterization of a novel bio-stimulant designed to enhance the antioxidant properties of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (MAPs). By targeting both biomass performance and bioactive compound accumulation, the project aims to produce standardized, high-quality ingredients for use as bio-stimulants and biopesticides.

As the analytical partner in this initiative, Sequentia Biotech will spearhead the molecular and metabolomic characterization of the bio-stimulant. Leveraging our expertise in multi-omics and bioinformatics, we will provide a deep-dive analysis of how the bio-stimulant interacts with plant pathways at the molecular level and help generate optimized, standardized plant-derived ingredients with consistent antioxidant capacity.

About the I3-4-BIOFERTILIZERS Initiative

The I3-4-BIOFERTILIZERS FSTP Open Call aims to overcome the financial and technical barriers that SMEs face in adopting sustainable agrifood practices. By providing cascade funding and technical support, the initiative promotes a resilient, circular bioeconomy in the European agricultural sector.

This partnership highlights Sequentia’s commitment to applying omics sciences to global challenges. By combining Biotech Tricopharming’s specialized cultivation technologies with our analytical expertise, we are helping to create more resilient, high-value botanical products for a greener future.
